From the 15th to the 21st of April, students from all over Europe will gather in Maastricht to debate the pressing issues of today, exchange ideas and get to know each other’s cultures. They will take part in an enriching programme with various educational activities. This will be the 4th time The EYP in The Netherlands will host an International Forum, but the first time it will be brought to the city of Maastricht.
The programme and methodology of the EYP is based on over 30 years of experience. Yet there is still room to innovate and experiment. We want Maastricht 2021 to be an event where we pilot new educational practices to enrich and strengthen the existing programme.
It is our goal that the International Forum has not only a global, but also a local impact. We aim to do this by including non-EYP students and Maastricht locals in the event, and working together with locals and local businesses to showcase the city and the region to our international participants.
We want to make the session sustainable in terms of reducing the conference’s ecological footprint by promoting eco-friendly methods. Additionally, we want the deliverables of the event to be long-term and sustainable. We aim to help participants build lasting intercultural friendships and an international network. All who take part gain transferable skills that they will use to shape our organisation, their studies and their future.
We wish to take actions to ensure that identity, views or socio-economic status form no hindrance to participation. The creation of an Inclusivity Fund will support participants who cannot pay their own travel and participation fees. Maastricht 2021 will be an environment in which everyone feels safe and comfortable.
