From the 15th to the 20th of April, young people from all over Europe will gather online to debate the pressing issues of today, exchange ideas and get to know each other’s cultures. Participants will gather online, and take part in the session from home, as a result of the ongoing pandemic. This format is not regular, but does allow for new innovations to be pursued. They will take part in an enriching programme with various educational activities and educational content, including articles, podcasts, live-streams and videos. This will be the 4th time that EYP in The Netherlands is hosting an International Forum, with youngsters from our 40 partner countries joining.
About the International Forum
The programme and methodology of the EYP is based on over 30 years of experience. Yet there is still room to innovate and experiment. We want Maastricht 2021 to be an event where we pilot new educational practices to enrich and strengthen the existing programme. Particularly in our new online approach, we are more flexible, and there is a lot of room for new ideas and projects.
It is our goal that the International Forum has not only a global, but also a local impact. We aim to do this by including non-EYP youngsters and Maastricht locals in the event, and working together with locals and local businesses to showcase the city and the region to our international participants.
We want to make the session sustainable in terms of reducing the conference’s ecological footprint by promoting eco-friendly methods. Additionally, we want the deliverables of the event to be long-term and sustainable. We aim to help participants build lasting intercultural friendships and an international network. All who take part gain transferable skills that they will use to shape our organisation, their studies and their future.
We wish to take actions to ensure that identity, views or socio-economic status form no hindrance to participation. We have budget set aside to support participants who do not have the means – such as a stable internet connection or a device – to join. This event will be an environment in which everyone feels safe and comfortable and we actively try to prevent situations of bullying and stress.
